Baint an Fhómhair 2018 / Harvest 2018

Bhí Máire agus roinnt dosna páistí an-ghnóthach ag baint an fhómhair an tseachtain seo caite. Bhíodar ag obair go dian sa ghairdín agus sa chistin. Rinne siad anraith deas blasta as na torthaí a d'fhás siad agus rinne rang 4 arán donn chun dul leis. Ba mhaith linn ár mbuíochas a ghabháil le Máire don obair a dhéanann sí gach bliain.

Máire and some of the children were very busy last week on harvesting the vegetables grown in the school garden. They were also busy in the kitchen. They made very tasty soup from all the vegetables and 4th class made lovely brown bread to go with it. We would like to thank Máire for all the hard work she does in the garden every year.

Cosán & Foirgnimh -Footpath & new school building

A chairde!
Táimid faoi lán seol thar nais ag obair arís faoin dtráth seo agus laethanta saoire an tsamhraidh mar sean-chuimhnte anois!
Chuireamar fáilte roimh 26 naíonáin shóisearacha nua i mbliana agus tá ag éirí go hiontach leo cheana féin! Beidh oíche eolais againn do thuismitheoirí na naíonáin an Déardaoin seo, an 13ú Meán Fómhair ag a 6.00 chun dul tríd na gnáthrudaí a bhíonn i gceist le naíonain shóisearacha. Rachaidh Máiréad tríd roinnt rudaí libh agus má tá ceisteanna ag daoine sin an t-am len iad a cur!
Theastaigh uaim gach éinne a thabhairt suas chun dáta maidir leis an bhforbairt fhoirgnimh scoile nua. Bhíos ag caint leo ar an Déardaoin agus tá na conraí sínithe mar sin tá an talamh-suíomh seo ceannaithe anois agus tá an aistriú ó úinéir amháin go h-úinéir eile ar siúl. Nuair atá san déanta cuirfear isteach ar chead pleanáile chun an fhoirgnimh nua a thógáil. Tá rudaí ag tarlú go mall ach go réidh.
Maidir leis an áit cúng lasmuigh, tá dea-scéal cloiste (ó bhéal) go mbeidh cosán á cur isteach agus go mbeidh an bóthar atá ann cheana-féin á leathanú chun spás a dhéanamh dó go luath. An-deascéal é sin dúinne. Nuair a bheidh a thuilleadh eolais agam, déarfaidh mé libh é!
Tá roinnt gearán á dhéanamh faoi an Drop-off zone ar maidin - go bhfuil roinnt tuistí ag pairceáil ann agus ag fanacht ann ró-fhada ag féachaint ar a bpáistí sa chlós. I ndáiríre ní chóir fanacht ró-fhada ann agus molaim daoibh imeacht chomh luath agus is féidir chun spás a fhágáil don chéad tuismitheoir eile. Cuirim i gcuimhne daoibh gur do mhúinteoirí amhain agus daoine a úsáideann an spás do dhaoine le deacrachtaí gluaiseachta an chéad casadh ar dheis.
Féilire beo faoi láithir agus liosta dátaí tábhachtacha ag teacht go luath.

Dear parents!
We are in full swing back at work at this stage and the summer holidays are but a distant memory now!
We welcomed 26 Junior Infants this year and they are already getting on great in "Big School"! We will have an information night for their parents this Thursday, 13th September 2018 at 6.00, to go through the usual Junior Infants queries. Mairéad will run through afew points with the parents and if you have any questions, she'll be able to answer them then.
I wanted to bring everyone up to date as regards the new school building. I was speaking to the powers that be in the Department last Thursday and the contracts for this site are signed and the conveyancing is underway. When that is done the first planning permission application will be made to build our new structure. Things are happening slowly but steadily.
As regards the narrow place outside, I have heard some good news (verbally) that there will be a footpath put down soon and that the existing road will be widened to make space available for it. This is very good news for us! When I get further information, I will let you know!
There were some complaints made about the Drop-off zone in the mornings - that there are some parents parking there and staying there too long watching their children in the yard. The purpose of the drop-off zone is to pull up, help your child out of the car (if necessary) and to move on as soon as possible to allow the next parent to do the same. May I gently remind you that the first turn to the right is only for teachers and people that use the disabled parking space.
The calendar of holidays is live and I'll be sending a list of important dates out in the next few days.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Sinéad Ní Mhurchú, príomhoide

Le gach Dhea ghui,
Fr. Robert

Glanadh na Trá/ Beach Clean 2018

Rinne rang a 3 agus a 4 (roimh an Samhradh) an-gaisce ar fad nuair a bhailigh siad bruscar ar Thrá Bhaile an Ghearóid. Bail ó Dhia orthu!
3rd and 4th class (before the Summer) did a wonderful job collecting rubbish on Garrylucas/Garretstown beach.
Well done to them!
