There will be a Parents Association Committee Meeting held at the school next Wednesday 26th January 2011 at 8pm.
It would be great to see some more parents attending this meeting in addition to the committee members. The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss and organise fundraising activities already in progress, bring new ideas to the table and raise any other items for discussion.
Please come along to this meeting to help support our Gaelscoil.
Best regards

UNICEF Ireland thanks us for our ongoing support

Subject: UNICEF Ireland thanks you for your ongoing support
Dear Principals, Teachers and School Secretary’s,
I though I would take this opportunity to say a huge thank you again from all the team at UNICEF Ireland for your support of our 1st national non uniform day world record breaking attempt last October. As you know the event was a huge success for us and we are truly grateful. And yes… we did brake the world record!
The donations from your school have gone far and wide helping us to continue to support vulnerable children worldwide supported by UNICEF programmes. An poignant example of such are the children of Haiti. This Wednesday 12th is will be the first anniversary of the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti for only 35 seconds but became a defining moment in the country’s history.
I attach a document that may be of interest to you and perhaps bring to life for the students an example of what their donations have done for other children. Should your school wish to take part – UNICEF Ireland are holding a 1 minute silence on Wednesday 12th at 12pm to mark the anniversary of the event.
Should you wish to have further updates on the children of Haiti or indeed any other UNICEF programmes please do not hesitate to contact me.
Perhaps you will consider us again next year as we plan to make our October event even bigger and better next year!
Many thanks, El.

Athoscailt/Reopening
A thuismitheoirí,
Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir!
Beidh an scoil ag oscailt ar an Luan 10/01/'11 ag 08.50 mar is gnáth. Mar atá cloiste agaibh ar an nuacht, táim cinnte, ta go leoir cásanna fliú na muice (H1N1) tar éis teacht chun cinn arís le déanaí. Má tá do pháiste breoite nó má tá slaighdeán ar do pháiste iarraim oraibh iad a choinneál sa bhaile go dtí go bhfuil biseach orthu. Seachas sin feicfidh mé ar an Luan sibh!
Dear parents,
Happy New Year to you all!
The school will reopen on Monday 10/01/'11 at 08.50 as usual. I'm sure you have all heard about the re-emergence of the H1N1 virus/Swine Flu on the news etc. We are prepared in the school -the handgel dispensers in place and tissues etc are available for the children to use as needed. The teachers will also go through the recommended steps for minimising the spread of germs. The children won't need to bring any extra gels or tissues but if you would like to put some into your child's bag that's fine. If your child has any cold or flu like symptoms I ask that they be kept at home as a precautionary measure until they are fully recovered. See you Monday!
