Pholasaí Lón Sláintiúil / Healthy Eating Policy

Dear parents,
Mar thacaíocht don Pholasaí Lón Sláintiúil atá againn, ón Luan amach, beidh ‘Sos Torthaí’ againn gach lá ar a 10 a chlog. Mar sin ní mór toradh breise a thabhairt do do leanbh ag teacht ar scoil. Beidh na múinteoirí ag glacadh páirt ann chomh maith !!
Go raibh maith agaibh.

Dear parents,
In keeping with our Healthy Eating Policy, from Monday on we will have a fruit break every day @ 10 o clock. Therefore, it is necessary for your child to have an extra piece of fruit in his/her lunch box. Teachers will also be partaking in the fruit break!!

Fáilte Siar / Welcome Back 05-05-2011

A thuismitheoirí,
Tá fáilte romhaibh go léir thar nais tar éis briseadh na Cásca. Táimid ag cur tús le téarma an tSamhraidh, téarma deirneach na scoilbhliana seo! Táim cinnte go n-aontóidh sibh liom nuair a deirim gur imigh an bhlian seo an-tapaidh ar fad. Níl ach ocht seachtaine fágtha againn ar scoil agus go leoir ag tárlú san tréimhse sin. Seo a leanas na dátaí tabhachtach atá ag teacht sa téarma seo.

Bealtaine 11 - OEC Naí Mhóra
Bealtaine 13 - Spórt na Chathrach
Bealtaine 21 - an Céad Comaoineach
Bealtaine 27 - Naíonáin Shóisearacha 2011/’12 ag teacht chun na scoile. Lá saor Naí Bheaga 2010/’11
*Bealtaine 29 - Cow Pat Bingo!
Meitheamh 3 Scoil dúnta
Meitheamh 6 Scoil dúnta
Meitheamh 14 Turasanna scoile
Naíonáin – Feirm Uí Laoithe
R1 & R2 – Trabolgan
Meitheamh 29 Scoil ag dúnadh do laethanta saoire an tSamhraidh.

Beidh seo ar siúl ar an 13ú Bealtaine.

Tá an Céad Comaoineach le socraithe don 21ú Bealtaine. Táimíd ag déanamh an-ullmhúcháin don ocáid. Táim ag súil / ag lorg go dtiocfaidh Rang 1 i mbliana chun canadh sa chór. Bheinn an-bhuíoch dá bhféadfaidís teacht chun cabhrú agus ansin bheadh fáilte rompu teacht chun na scoile don gcóisir ina dhiaidh. Toisc an slua a bheith chomh beag is dóigh linn go mbeidh cabhair ag teastáil leis an gcanadh. Gan amhras munar féidir le daoine a bheith ann níl aon fhadhb ach churfaidís go mór leis an ocáid agus beidh Rang 1 ag lorg tacaíocht an bhliain seo chugainn chomh maith!
Ba mhaith linn “féasta” beag a bheith againn sa scoil tar éis an Chéad Comaoineach. Beidh tuistí R2 gnóthach lena bpáistí féin ar an lá mar sin táim ag lorg 5 nó 6 tuistí ó Rang 1 chun dul i bhfeighil ar an bhféasta. Téir go Hilda chun d’ainm a thabhairt agus beidh mé i dteangbháil leat faoi an tseachtain seo chugainn. Cuirfidh an féasta seo go mór le spiorad & atmasféir an lae. Seo an chéad uair dúinn Céad Comaoineach a bheith againn sa scoil agus ba mhaith liom dea-nós a bhunú sa scoil leis.
Má tá daoine ann nach raibh ábalta cabhrú leis an Cowpat Bingo toisc gan a bheith saor an dáta san b’fhéidir go bhféadfadh siad uair nó dhó a thabhairt don ócáid seo. Is lá an-tábhachtach don scoil í agus is mór dom / dúinn an cabhair.

Beidh an scoil dúnta do dheireadh seachtaine an-fhada bainc ar an 3ú & an 6ú Meitheamh.

Tá na turasanna scoile socraithe anois chomh maith. Rachaidh na Naíonáin ar fad go Feirm Uí Laoithe i nDún Guairne agus rachaidh R1 & R2 go dtí Trabolgan. ‘Sé an dáta socraithe do seo ná an 14ú Meitheamh. Beidh €15.50 ar na Naíonáin & €17 i gcóir Rang 1 & Rang 2. Is féidir airgead Colm a sheoladh isteach leis. Mar sin an méid iomlán do:

Naíonáin Shínsearacha:….… €15.50 + €7 = €22.50
Naíonáin Shóisearcha:………. €22.50
R1………………………………………… €17.50 + €7= €24.50
R2……………………………………….. €24.50

Beidh mé i dteangbháil arís ma tá tuilleadh fógraí.

Dear parents,
Welcome back to you all after the Easter Holidays. We are now starting the Summer term, the last term of this school year! I’m sure you will agree with me in saying that this year went by very fast. There are only eight weeks left and lots happening in that space of time. Following are the important dates that are coming this term.

May 11th - OEC Senior Infants
May 13th - City Sports
May 21st - First Holy Communion
May 27th - Junior Infants 2011/’12 coming to the school. Holiday for Junior Infants 2010/’11
*May 29th - Cow Pat Bingo!
June 3rd - School closed
June 6th - School closed
June 14th - School Tours
Infants – Leahy’s Farm
1st and 2nd classes – Trabolgan
June 29th - School closing for the summer holidays. ½ day.

15 children from the school will be competing in the City Sports this year. They won the races that we had in the school and they got places in the City Sports competition as result. I wish them the best of luck. This will take place on may 13th.

The First Holy Communion is organised for May 21st. We are making great preparations for the occasion. I am hoping / asking for 1st Class this year to sing in the choir. I would be very grateful if they could come to help out and then they would be welcome to come to the school for the party afterwards. As the group is so small we anticipate that we will need help with the singing. Of course if people can’t be there there is no problem but it would really add to the occasion and 1st Class will be looking for support next year also!
We would like to have a small ‘party’ in the school after the First Holy Communion. The parents of 2nd Class will be busy with their own children so I am looking for 5 or 6 parents from 1st Class to look after the party. Go to Hilda to put down your name and I will be in touch with you next week. This party will add very much to the spirit and atmosphere of the day. It is the first time that we have the First Holy Communion in the school and I would like to create a good custom in the school with it.
If there were people who could not help with the Cow Pat Bingo because of not being available on that date maybe they could give an hour or two to this occasion. It is very important for the school and I / we really need the help.

The school will be closed for a long bank holiday weekend on the 3rd and the 6th June.

The school tours are now organised also. All the Infants will be going to Leahy’s Farm in Dungourney and 1st and 2nd Classes will be going to Trabolgan. The set date is the Tuesday 14th June. The cost is €15.50 for the Infants and €17 for 1st and 2nd Classes. You can send in the money for Múinteoir Colm with it. So the full amount is:

Senior Infants:……€15.50 + €7 = €22.50
Junior Infants:……€22.50
1st Class…………… €17.50 + €7 = €24.50
2nd Class…………. €24.50

Cow Pat Fundraising Day - Sunday, May, 29th 2011

Hi All,

The closing date for the sale of tickets for the Cow Pat Bingo is fast approaching Friday 6th May 2011.

Please please please sell as many tickets as you can before then!! I always have spare tickets with me in the car so let me know if you need more.

I will be outside the school from 1.15pm on Friday 6th (till 1.45pm ish) to collect ticket money and sold/unsold tickets. Alternatively, you can drop them into me at my home any time over the day. If possible can you return tickets/money in a sealed envelope with your childs name on the front (to avoid any confusion!).

Thanks for all your efforts - it really is very much appreciated
- Emma
