Turasanna Scoile 2013 / School Tours 2013

Dea scéal! Tá na turasanna scoile eagraithe againn don Mháirt an 18ú Mheitheamh 2013. Beidh na naí ranganna ag dul go Feirm Uí Laoithe & ranganna 1-4 ag dul go Funky Town i Fountainstown chun gníomhaíochtaí ar thalamh agus ar uisce a dhéanamh.

Beidh costas €16 ar an dturas go Feirm Uí Laoithe agus costas €42 ar an dturas go Fountainstown. (Tá praghas an bhus san áireamh)

Tá 6 seachtain scoile fágtha go dtí lá an turais. Mar sin is féidir le ranganna 1-4 íoc as a dturas i nglasaíochtaí €7 gach Aoine. Tuigimid go mbeadh sé deacair an costas iomlán a íoc i mbabhta amháin.

Táimid ag súil go mór leis an lá agus beidh litir ag dul abhaile níos cóngaraí don am faoi amannta na mbusanna srl.

Dear parents,

Good news! We have organised the school tours for Tuesday 18th June 2013. The junior classes will be going to Leahy's Farm and 1st to 4th class going to Funky Town in Fountainstown where they will do land and water activities.

The Leahy's Farm tour will cost €16 and the Fountainstown tour will cost €42. (the price of the bus is included)

There are 6 school weeks left to the day of the tours. Therefore, 1st - 4th classes can pay in installments of €7 each Friday. We understand that it would be difficult to pay the full amount in one go.

We are really looking forward to the day and there will be a letter sent closer to the time about times of the buses etc.

Tuistí Rang 3 & 4 / Parents of 3rd and 4th class

Tá páistí R3&R4 ag dul ar turas stairiúil chuig Dún Chathail an Déardaoin seo, an 2ú Bealtaine 2013. Chun praghas an bhus a chlúdú an féidir le gach leanbh €3 a thabhairt isteach go Hilda. Beidh sé i rith am scoile, mar sin tabhair do leanbh chuig na scoile agus bailigh iad mar is gnáth ag an scoil.

Beidh picnic againn ann mar sin caithfidh na leanaí lón a thógaint leo. 

Caithfidh na leanaí a éadaí scoile ceart iomlán a chaitheamh.

Bí réidh i gcomhair gach sórt aimsir (uachtar gréine / cóta báistí!)

The children in 3rd and 4th class are going to Charles Fort this Thursday, May 2nd 2013. Could each child bring in €3 to cover the price of the bus. It will be during school time, so bring your children to school and collect them from school as normal.

We will have a picnic there so the children will have to bring a lunch.

Be ready for every sort of weather (sun cream / rain coat!)

1st Class Parents

1^ST Class Parents

As you are probably aware it is the 1^st Class Parents who are organising the Communion Party this year, which takes place on Saturday 18^th of May 2013.

We would ask that every parent who has a child making their communion next year to help in some way.

There are lots of people needed to help on the day / help set up the night before / help clean up when the party is over.

As well as helping with the party we would also ask every parent to either bake a cake or make sandwiches for the party.

The only request in regard to cakes is that there is no chocolate!!

Can you please text Alison (Evan’s Mum) 0872358624 or Mary (Oisin’s Mum) 0877476055, before Wednesday the 8^th of May just to let us know your availability on the morning of the Communion or the night before to set up. Also if you could let us know at this time if it is a sweet or savoury you will be making just so we have a good balance of both.

Tá an OEC taréis a bheith an-flaithiúil ar fad agus leath lá saor in aisce a thabhairt go rang amháin arís i mbliana. Taimíd ana bhuíoch. Gníomhaíochtaí uisce a bheidh i gceist. Seo a leanas na rudaí a bheidh ag teastáil ó do leanbh an Déardaoin seo, an 25ú.

The OEC Kinsale have once again been very generous and has offered a free half day to one class group. We are very grateful to them. All of third class will be going to the OEC participating in water activities this Thursday the 25th April 2013 betwwen 10-1. The following items are needed:

• Swim suit
• old t shirt
• old shoes for water
• plastic bag
• towel
• school tracksuit
• no valuable clothes or items

Bring your children to the school and collect them at school as normal.

Táimid ag lorg saorálaigh chun málaí a phaiceáil i Supervalu ar an Aoine an 26ú Aibreán (Aoine beag seo). Tá ar a laghad duine amháin ag teastáil ag 11-12, beirt do 12-1, 1-2, 2-3,3-4,4-5 agus 6-7.

Is seans an-mhaith dúinn chun airgead a thiomsú go héasca, mar is eol daoibh féinig is minic a feictear tuistí á dhéanamh sna siopaí éagsúla. Táimid an-bhuíoch go deo as an obair ar fad a dhéanann coiste na dTuistí ar son na scoile agus ba mhaith liom a cur i gcuimhne daoibh go bhfuil gach tuismitheoir mar bhall de Choiste na dTuistí fiú muna bgfuil post faoi leith acu ar an gCoiste féin. Seans deas é seo chun páirt gníomhach a ghlacadh air muna raibh seans agaibh go dtí seo - tuistí na Naí-ranganna b'fhéidir? Nó b'fhéidir páistí Rang 3 nó 4 á dhéanamh ach faoi féitheoireacht cruinn a dtuistí? (Ionas go ndéanfaidís i gceart é...)

Le déanaí bhí oíche sóisialta earraí Ghaelacha againn sa scoil agus d'éirigh go hiontach leis. Chineamar d-fibrilator a cheannach leis an t-airgead a bhailíodh ach faraoir ní raibh go leoir ann. Bhíomar gann ar €350 agus mar sin bheadh sé go hiontach dá mbaileoimís san ar an Aoine i Supervalu. Sprioc an-fiúntach é sin is dóigh linn. Mar sin a thuismitheoirí, má tá 1 uair sa bhreis agaibh ar an Aoine bheimís an-bhuíoch dá gcláraíodh sibh chun an phaiceáil a dhéanamh. Cur glaoch nó téir go Hilda chun clárú le bhur dtola!

Dear Parents,

We are looking for volunteers to pack bags in Supervalu on Friday 26th April 2013 (this Friday). There is at least one person needed from 11-12, two for 12-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 and 6-7.

It's a very good opportunity for us to collect money relatively easily, as you know yourselves as you would often see parents doing it in different shops. We are forever grateful for all the work carried out by the Parents Association for the school and I would like to remind you that every parent is part of the Parents Association even if they don't have a specific job on the committee itself. It is a nice opportunity to take part in an active way if you have not had the opportuunity to do so up to now - parents of the junior classes maybe? Or maybe children in 3rd and 4th class could do it, but supervised by their parents (so that they do it properly..)

Recently we had an Irish social night in the school and it was a great success. We decided to buy a de-fibrilator with the money collected but, however, there was a shortfall of €350. It would be fantastic if we could collect this on Friday at Supervalu. We think this is a very worthy cause. Therefore, parents, if you have one hour to spare on Friday we would be very grateful if you would sign up to do the packing. Ring or call in to Hilda to sign up please!

Traenáil Peil Gaelacha/ Gaelic Football Training

Beidh traenáil Peil Gaelacha ag tosnú arís an Céadaoin seo an 24ú d'Aibreán 2013. Tá fáilte roimh cailíní agus buachaillí ó Ranganna 2,3 agus 4. Idir 2.30 agus 3.30 p.m. a bheidh sé ar siúl. Beidh cosaint fiacla ag teastáil ó gach leanbh. Is féidir le na leanaí buataisí peile a thabhairt leo chomh maith má tá siad acu.

Gaelic Football Training will be starting again this Wednesday, 24th April 2013. Boys and girls from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Class are welcome to take part. It will be between 2.30 and 3.30 p.m. Each child must have gum shields. They can also bring football boots if they have them.

Beidh rince Gaelach agus Gleacaíocht ag tosnú an tseachtain seo le múinteoirí Miah (rince) agus Colm (gleacaíocht). Is brea leis na páistí na ranganna seo agus eiríonn go hiontach leo gach bliain. Beidh an rince Gaelach ag tosnú ar an gCéadaoin (17ú) agus an gleacaíocht ag tosnú ar an Aoine (19ú) mar sin ba cheart go gcaitheadh na páistí a n-éide scoile spóirt ar na laethanta sin don téarma seo. Leanfaidh na ranganna rince ar feadh 6 seachtaine agus leanfaidh an gleacaíocht go deireadh na mbliana. Tá íoctha agaibh as na ranganna seo, in bhur billí leabhair, ag tosach na bliana. Mar sin, na laethanta nua spóirt ná Dé Céadaoin agus Dé hAoine. Tá roinnt páistí ag imirt spóirt eile amárach. Ba cheart go mbeadh an éide spóirt orthu siúd mar atá socraithe. Gach éinne eile éide scoile ba cheart a bheith orthu.

Dear parents,

Irish dancing and gymnastics classes will be starting this week in the school with Miah (dancing) and Colm (gymnastics). The children really enjoy these classes every year. The Irish dancing classes will start on Wed (17th) and gymnastics will start on Friday (19th) so the children should wear their school sports clothes on those two days for this term. The Irish dancing classes will run for 6 weeks and the gymnastics will run until the end of the year. So the new days the children should wear their sports clothes are Wednesday and Friday. You have already paid for these classes, at the start of the year, in your book bills. Some children will be participating in a Blitz tomor. They know who they are. They should wear their sports clothes as arranged, everyone else should wear their school uniform.

Send in your trocaire boxes to the school office as soon as possible please. Fr. Robert is coming to the school to collect them next week.

He asked us to remind you that the children's contribution to Trocaire does a lot of good for people who are most vulnerable.

Oíche Eolais faoi lón sláintiúl / Healthy lunch Information Evening

Táimid ag oibriú go congarach le Lucy Highland, saineolaí cothúcháin, faoi láthair chun ár bpolasaí lón sláintiúil a fheabhsú. Tá sí chun oíche eolais a thabhairt do thuismitheoir ar an gCéadaoin seo chugainn, 17.04.2013, sa scoil ag a 6.30 p.m. Tá a lán eolas aici agus is féidir linn go léir nodanna a fháilt uaithi ar conas bia níos sláintiúla a phiocadh dár naiste bidh fhéin agus d'aisté bidh do linbh / leanaí. Tá sé tabhachtach mar sin go mbeidh tuismitheoir ó gach clann i láthair. Déanann sibh sár job ag claí leis an bpolasaí atá againn faoi láthair agus molaim sibh dá bharr.

We are working closely with Lucy Highland, (nutritionist), at present to improve our healthy lunch policy. She is going to have an information evening with the parents next Wednesday 17.04.2013 at 6.30 p.m. at the school. She has a lot of knowledge and we can all get tips from her on how to choose healthier food for our own diet and for that of your child (children). It is therefor important that a parent from each family is present. You do a great job adhering to the policy that we have at present and well done for that.

Dear Parents!

There was a mistake on the list of dates given yesterday. The school will reopen after the summer holidays on Thursday the 29th August 2013, not the 28th August as was on the list yesterday. My apologies for any confusion caused!

Tá Natasha Uí Fhairceallaigh ag cur ranganna Fraincíse ar fáil do Rang a 4. Beidh an rang ar fad ag foghlaim Fraincíse léi gach Aoine ó 1.30 - 2.15 ar feadh míosa. Ba mhaith leis an scoil ár mbuíochas a ghabhail le Natasha as ucht a h-am a chur ar fáil.

Natasha Uí Fhairceallaigh will be providing French classes to 4th class. The whole class will be learning French with her every Friday from 1.30 to 2.15 for a month. The school would like to thank Natasha for giving up her time for this.

Tá blitz peil gaelach ar siúl an Aoine seo i bPáirc Cionn tSáile do ranganna 1-4. Beidh na buachaillí agus na cailíní ag imirt lena chéile. Beidh sé ar siúl i rith am scoile, mar sin tar go dtí an scoil mar is gnáth. Tá na heagraitheoirí ag lorg €3 ó gach leanbh chun bonn a bhronnadh orthu agus chun milseáin a chur ar fáil. Caithfidh na leanaí éide spóirt a chaitheamh ar an Aoine. Is féidir leo buataisí peile ceart agus bríste gearra a chaitheamh ach níl siad riachtanach. Caithfidh gach leanbh cosaint fiacla a chaitheamh ag imirt peil gaelach as seo amach de réir dlí nua. Tá cinn saor ar fáil i gcomhair cúpla euro in ana chuid siopaí anois. Tá siad riachtanach don Aoine.

There is a gaelic football blitz at Kinsale GAA pitch for 1st to 4th class. The boys and girls will be playing together. It will be held during school hours, so come to school as normal. The organisers are looking for €3 from each child for medals and sweets. The children must wear sports clothes on Friday. They can wear proper football boots and shorts but it is not necessary. Every child must wear gum shields when playing gaelic football from now on according to the new laws. There are cheap ones available for a few euro in a lot of shops now. They are essential for Friday.

 Welcome back to everyone! It is hard to believe that we are starting the last term! Where did the time go?! We are looking forward to this term - a nice term with a lot of nice activities and good weather too, please God. The following is a reminder of the important dates during this term:

A reminder to parents of Senior Infants and 1st Class. Meeting at the school this Wednesday 10th April 2013 at 6.15 p.m.

Finally- Could you all look at your children's uniform to be sure that it is correct and look at the name on it to make sure that your children have their own uniform. There are a few PUFFAs and uniform parts here without names on them and other missing parts with names on them. A very easy mistake to happen and we would like to sort it all out.
