Ag lorg bronntanais - Donations for refugees

Beidh athair ón scoil, Daire Ó Ciardubhán, ag dul chuig an Mheanmhuir le cabhlacht na hÉireann ar mhisean daonchairdiúil. Daidí le Liam (Rang 3), Aoibh (Rang 2) agus Róisín (Naí Mhóra) é. Príomhchuspóir an misean seo ná cabhrú le cás na teifigh atá ag teitheadh ón tSír, ón Afghanastáin, ón Iaráic i measc tíortha eile. Beidh an long ag piocadh daoine - mná, páistí agus fir ón bhfarraige féin!
Beidh siad ar an long ar feadh suas le 36 uair an chloig. Tamall an-fhada do dhaoine a bheith ag fanacht gan trácht ar pháistí bochta a bheith ag fanacht chomh fada san!
Bhí smaoineamh deas ag muintir Uí Chiardubháin agus is éard atá i gceist ná lorg ar dhaoine (oraibh) leabhar dathú, criáin, pinn luaidhe daite, maircéirí srl. a bhronnadh orthu. Ionas go mbeidh rud éigin le déanamh ag na páistí seo agus seans a thabhairt dóibh bheith ina bpáistí arís. Níl rudaí móra ag teastáil ach bfhéidir teidí nó bábóga oiriúnach chomh maith.
Gan amhras níl iachaill oraibh rud ar bith a bhronnadh ach, má tá fonn oraibh, is féidir libh iad a thabhairt isteach go Hilda roimh an Céadaoin an 21ú Mean Fómhair 2016 agus tógfaidh Daire leis iad agus é ag imeacht.
Guímid gach rath ar Dhaire agus a fhoireann agus iad i mbun an obair tábhachtach seo.

A father of children from this school, Daire Ó Ciardubháin, will be going to the Mediterranean with the Irish Navy on a humanitarian mission. He is the father of Liam (3rd Class), Aoibh (2nd Class) and Róisín (Senior Infants). The main objective of the mission is to help with the refugees who are escaping from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, along with other countries. The ship will be saving refugees - women, children and men from the sea itself!
The rescued people will be on the ship for up to 36 hours. A very long time to be waiting, not to mention poor children waiting that long!
The Kirwin family had a good idea of asking people (yourselves) to donate colouring books, crayons, colouring pencils etc. for them so that the children will have something to do and to give them a chance to be children again. Only small things would be required - small teddies or dolls would be suitable too.
Of course there is no obligation for you to donate anything but, if you are inclined to do so, you can bring donations in to Hilda before Wednesday week (21.09.2016) and Daire will take them with him when he is leaving.
We wish Daire and his crew the best in their undertaking of such important work.

Here is the information provided by the Irish Navy:

LÉ Samuel Beckett will depart on Friday 23rd September for a 12 week humanitarian mission in the Central Mediterranean Sea. This is the fifth Naval Service ship to take part in this mission since 2015 and a second mission for LÉ Samuel Beckett. We will be operating off Libya, tasked with the search for and rescue of migrants on the seas in this area.

Any colouring books, crayons and teddies collected by the children in the school would be gratefully accepted by the ship before departing. These simple things have a positive effect on the rescued children after what has been a stressful and dangerous experience.
