Ceardlann Ealaíne/ Glucksman

Ghlac na páistí ó Rang 3 agus Rang 4 páirt sa cheardlann Ealaíne ‘See You, See Me’ sa Glucksman i UCC ar an gCéadaoin seo caite. D’Fhéach said ar phíosaí a bhí déanta ag na maisitheoirí leabhair cáiliúla (Chris Judge, Fatti Burke, Niamh Sharkey, Peter Donnelly, Chris Haughton). Bhí na píosaí bunaithe ar téamaí cearta riachtanais na bpáistí- (an ceart d'oideachas, spraoi, dídean…srl). Chruthaigh na páistí a bpíosaí féin freisin, a bheidh le feiscint i dtaispeántais sa Glucksmann ó 20-22 Márta 2020 agus molaimid turas a thógaint chun iad a fheiscint. An-suimiúil!
The children from rang 3 and 4 had a great time at the exhibition ‘See you, See me’ last Wednesday 05/02/'20 in the Glucksman, UCC. The children looked at pieces based on children’s rights that were created by famous children’s book illustrators such as Chris Judge, Fatti Burke, Niamh Sharkey, Peter Donnelly, Chris Haughton. They also created their own work based on what they saw in the exhibition. The children's work will now be on display in the Glucksman Gallery in UCC from the 20-22nd March 2020 and it would be fantastic to go and see it

Go raibh maith agaibh, Neasa agus Siobhán.

Tá go leor liostaí agus sleamhnáin PowerPoint air a d’fhéadfadh an scoil a chur abhaile chun níos mó Gaeilge a spreagadh sa bhaile. Tá amhráin dheasa do pháistí óga ar roinnt de na sleamhnáin nó is féidir le tuismitheoirí triail a bhaint as cuid de na tráthanna ceist (quizlet). Is é naionra an pasfhocal le rochtain a fháil orthu. Bain triail as!
-Originally produced as support for teachers in Irish language pre-schools, it is also a fantastic source of Irish vocabulary for parents to build on their own bank of words with lists of animals, foods, family, birds, seasons among other useful themes. There's lots of fun things to do and some nice songs you can sing at home with preschoolers to encourage more use of Gaeilge at home. "naoinra" is the password to gain access to these resources. Give it a go and see what you think!

IrishForParents Bíonn an-tóir i gcónaí ar an suíomh seo. Tá na hacmhainní foghlama anseo go hiomlán dírithe ar riachtanais an tuismitheora agus pléitear téamaí ar nós an páiste, an tuismitheoir, an baile, an scoil, agus cúrsaí bia agus sláinte. Tá tascanna éisteachta, cuardach focal, cluichí agus cuir i láthair ann le cur le leibhéal Gaeilge agus muinín an tuismitheora.
-This is always a popular site for parents. All the resources on this site are aimed at the needs of parents of Irish -medium education school go-ers with themes like the child, the parent, at home, in school, food and health. There are listening tasks, wordsearches, games and presentations on the site that will help every parent, regardless of their level of Gaeilge.

Oll-Toghcháin/General Election 08/02/'20

Toghcháin 08/02/'20

A chairde,
Is cinnte go mbeidh alán polaiteoirí ag teacht chuig ár ndoirse idir seo agus toghchán an Sathairn seo chugainn. Bheadh sé iontach an deis a úsáid chun cás Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile a bhrú ar aghaidh. Iarr orthu an mbeidh siad in ann cabhrú linn ár bhfoirgnimh a fhail níos tapúla dúinn. Go dtí seo tá litreacha scríofa agus freagraí faighte ach i ndáiríre níl déanta acu ach sinne a choimead ciúin. Níl aon achar ama tugtha dúinn ach tar éis a rá go bhfuilimís "sa phróiséas" Táimíd ann anois le 5 bliana agus gan aon pioc níos giorra le foirgnimh buan a fháil.
An dara príoracht ná méid na ranganna a laighdiú: Tá an t-ádh le cúpla ranganna sa scoil go bhfuil níos lú na 20 paiste iontu ach gan amhras tá míbhuntáiste ag baint leis chomh maith -braitheann líon múinteoirí sa scoil ar cé mhéid páiste atá sa scoil agus níl aon dabht ann ach go gcaillfimíd múinteoirí muna dtiteann an gcoimheas páistí: múinteoirí. Faoi laithir tá coimheas 26:1 agus an méid molta ná 20:1. Bheadh laghdú ar an gcoimheas an-cabhrach don nGaelscoil (& do gach scoil eile sa tír)
Bheadh sé go maith roinnt brú a cur ar na polaiteoirí seo! Dá bhféadfadh aon duine acu obair dúinn nó cabhrú linn bheadh sé ar fheabhas.

Dear parents,
With the general election drawing closer we're all sure to have canvassers calling over the weekend. I think it'd be a great opportunity for us all to try to push the agenda of Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile. I will be asking what they can do to help us to progress our new building, as promised, back in 2015. We have written letter and to their credit, we have gotten replies from most of the politicians approached but nothing concrete beyond that we are "in the process" Frankly we have made very little progress in 5 years and it's very frustrating when we have our site and the ambition to drive on. Can these local representatives help us? No harm to remind them about us anyway...
The second area of priority is a reduction in class size. We have 2 classes below 20 in the Gaelscoil which is great for them but unfortunately, it has a negative effect also -the number of classroom teachers depends on enrolment figures. At the moment there is a pupil:teacher ratio of 26:1, making it  the second highest in Europe. The recommended ratio is 20:1. A reduction in our p:t ratio would be very helpful to Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile (and every school in the country).
It's no harm to put some pressure on these public representatives! If any of them could help our situation it would be fantastic!
Príomhoide Sinéad
