Milk order for 2 children with no name!
There is a milk order form which states:
160 days = €64 for 2 children
but we have no names for these children (other side of form not filled out)
Could anyone remember if they sent this in as we need to know what children to give these two cartons to.
Míle buíochas,
Hilda

** REMINDER ** First Holy Communion 2012 (children in 2nd class)
Dear Parents,
We write to you in connection with arrangements for your child’s First Holy Communion. During the past few years parents and children have taken part in a programme called ‘Do This in Memory.’ The reaction of parents has been very positive. Participation in the programme involves attendance of parents and child at a special monthly Mass. Outside of this, there will be some activities that parents and children may do together in the home. For example, a special newsletter will be given to each family and parents are invited to help their child read this at home.
An information night will be held in the Friary Centre on Monday 26th September at 8.00pm. At the meeting details will be given on the ‘Do This in Memory’ programme. The meeting will take approximately one hour. Details of the Enrolment Mass which will take place at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, 1st October at 6.30pm will also be given.
We look forward to meeting you at the Information Night and in the meantime, you might take note of the date of the Enrollment Mass. If there are any problems with either the meeting or the enrollment Mass, you might contact your child’s class teacher.
With all best wishes,
Yours sincerely,

Re: After School Club
Dear Parents,
Last year the Gaelscoil Parents Association ran an After School Club for the children of Junior and Senior Infants who have a sibling in the school finishing at 2.30pm. The club operated purely to save the parents of these children having to make two afternoon collections.
The Parents Association now wishes to know if you are interested in availing of the club this year. If so, please complete the form below and return it to Hilda, the school secretary, by Friday 23rd September. As previously stated, the club is only available to children who already have a sibling in the Gaelscoil finishing at 2.30pm.

Ranganna veidhlín sa mhodh Suzuki / Suzuki violin lessons
13th Sep 2011
A thuistí,
Tá na ranganna veidhlín sa mhodh Suzuki ag tosnú maidin amárach. Má tá suim ag do leanbh freastal ar na ranganna agus nach bhfuil an foirm seolta isteach agat, cuir ar an eolas sinn anois.
Páistí Rang 1 - Ná bí buartha faoi muna bhfuil and veidhlín agat fós mar ní bheidh siad á úsáis sa chéad cleacht. (Ná déan dearmad ar an dearbhán do Pro Musica le fáil san oifig - 20% laighdiú ar an veidhlín).Beidh siad ag teastáil an tseachtainina dhiaidh sin, áfach. Comh maith leis an veidhlín beidh spúinse agus crios leaisteach i gcóir an gualainn ag teastáil. An tríú rud ag teastáil ná filteán le leathnaigh plaisteach le haghaidh na nótaí ceoil.
Beidh Ciara, an múinteoir Suzuki anseo chomh maith ar an Aoine se chugainn idir 08.30 agus 11.30 chun bualadh le tuismitheoirí na páistí atá ag freastal ar na ranganna veidhlín. Ní gá teacht ach bheadh sé go maith bualadh léi chun tuiscint maith a fháil faoin mhódh mhúinteoireachta seo.
Dear parents,
The Suzuki violin lessons are starting tomorrow. If your child is interested in attending the classes and you haven’t sent in the form, let us know now.
Children in 1st class: Don’t worry if you haven’t got a violin yet as they will not need them for the first class. (Don’t forget that there are vouchers for Pro-Musica available in the office – 20% discount on violins) The violins will be needed for the following week, however. As well as the violin you will need a sponge and an elastic band for use as a shoulder rest. The third thing you will need is a folder with plastic sheets for the music.
Ciara, the Suzuki teacher, will be here at the school also next Friday between 08.30 and 11.00 to meet with the parents of the children who are attending the violin classes. It is not necessary to come but it would be good to meet her to gain a good understanding of this teaching/learning method.

Junior Infants, info and grammar
A Thuistí,
Tá an chéad seachtain curtha síos anois agus táimíd ana shásta le rá go bhfuil na leanaí socairte síos go maith agus fiú amháin ag úsáid cúpla focal Gaeilge! Maith sibh. Tá cúpla focal/frása thíos a bhíomar ag cleachtadh sa rang is féidir libh dul tríd leo leis na leanaí sa bhaile.
Ó thaobh tearas atá ag teastáil ó do leanbh sa rang, tá an scoil chun pinn/crián a chur ar fáil mar sinn níl aon gá dos na leanaí iad a thabhairt ar scoil. Tá gá, áfach, le apron a thabhairt ar scoil le haghaidh ealaín, déan cinnte dó go bhfuil ainm do linbh ar an apron agus ar gach uile píosa éadaigh a chaitheann sé/sí ar scoil.
Beidh sport á dhéanamh againn gach Luan agus Déardaoin as seo amach, mar sin bíodh an éide spoirt á chaitheamh ag do leanbh ar na laethanta sin. Beidh an grianghrafadóir ag teacht chun na scoile ar an Mháirt an 20ú Meán Fómhair chun an chéad griangraf scoile a thógaint. Mar sin dean cinnte de go mbeidh do leanbh néata mar is gnáth ar an la san.
Nóta tapaidh faoi lón na leanaí. Bíonn dhá briseadh againn ar scoil gach lá agus bíonn bosca lóin folamh ag cúpla leanbh tar éis an chéad briseadh mar sin b’fhéidir go mbeidh ceapaire srl eile ag teastáil uatha. Fé mar is eol dóibh ta polaisí lón sláintiúil againn sa scoil agus tá cosc ar seacláid ar scoil ar spreads cosúil le ‘Nutella’. Ó thaobh deochanna de, moltar bainne nó uisce a thabhairt dos na leanaí.
Ó thaobh as láthaireachta de, má bhíonn do leanbh as láthair is féidir leat nóta as láthaireachta a fháil ó Hilde san oifig agus a líonadh isteach nuair a fhileann siad agus an míníú a thabhairt.
Mó bhuíochas libh as bhur có-oibriú
Dear parents,
We have put down the first week now and we are very happy to say that the children are settled down well and even using a few Irish words! Well done. There are some words/phrases below that we were practising in class. You can go through them with the children at home.
In regard to things that your child needs in class, the school will be supplying pens/crayons so there is no need for the children to bring them to school. It is necessary, however, to bring an apron to school for art. Make sure that your child’s name is on the apron and on every single piece of clothing that he/she wears at school.
We will have sports every Monday and Thursday from now on so have your child wear the sports uniform on those days. The photographer will be coming to the school on Tuesday the 20th September to take the first school photograph. So make sure that your child is neat as usual on that day.
A quick note about the childrens’ lunch. We have two breaks at school every day and a couple of the children have an empty lunch box after the first break, so maybe they will need more sandwiches etc.
As you know we have a healthy eating policy in the school so chocolate is not allowed at school or spreads like ‘Nutella’ As regards drinks, milk or water are recommended for the children.
As regards absence from school, if your child is absent you can get an absence form from Hilda in the office upon their return to school and fill in when they return and the reason for the absence.
My thanks to you for your cooperation,
Mise le meas,
Múinteoir Michelle

A thuismitheoirí,
Chuir an scoil cleachtaí veidhlín ar fáil an bhliain seo chaite sa ‘Mhodh Suzuki’ le Múinteoir Ciara Ó Halloran. D’éirigh go maith leis na páistí agus chuir bhí seó beag ar siúl ag deireadh an bhliain, fiú amháin.
Go gairid is éard atá i gceist leis an Mhodh Suzuki ná ceol a “mhúineadh” do pháistí sa slí céanna is a “mhúintear” labhairt do pháistí óga. Ag tosnú le taispeáint dóibh conas poirt beaga a sheinnt ag bogadh ar aghaidh go dtí an ceoil foirmeálta a léamh dóibh féin. Cuirtear an-bhéim ar ghrá don ceoil. Tá tuilleadh eolas faoin mhodh Suzuki iniata ag internationalsuzuki.org suzukimusic.org.
Bheadh na ranganna ar siúl uair sa tseachtain don bhliain agus leanfaidís 30-40 nóiméad. Tá na ranganna ar fáil do Rang 1, 2 & 3. Is seans iontach mhaith é seo dos na páistí. Tuigim go hiomlán áfach go bhfuil breis costas ag baint leis agus ní féidir gan smaoineamh ar sin.
Muna bhfuil an foirm eile agat fós, seol an foirm thíos isteach amárach chun cur ar an eolas sin má tá suim agat inti nó muna bhfuil.
Dear parents,
The school organised ‘Suzuki Violin Lessons’ last year with Múinteoir Ciara Ó Halloran. The children got on well with it and the even had a small show at the end of the year.
In short, what is involved with the Suzuki Method is teaching music to children in the same way that small children are taught how to speak, starting with showing them how to play small pieces and moving on to reading formal music for themselves. A lot of emphasis is put on the love of music.
The classes are once a week for the year and they would last 30-40 minutes. There is more information on the Suzuki Method enclosed or at internationalsuzuki.org , suzukimusic.org.
The classes will be available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. It is a wonderful chance for the children. I fully understand, however, that there is extra cost involved and this has to be taken into account.
If you have misplaced the form already sent out, please send in the form below tomorrow to let us know if you are interested or not.

A thuismitheoirí, a chairde / Dear parents
06.09.’11A thuismitheoirí, a chairde,
Tá fáilte romhaibh uile thar nais. Tá súil agam go raibh an céad cúpla lá thar nais dos na páistí go maith agus go bhfuilid ag socrú thar nais i saol na scoile.
Fé mar is eol daoibh ag an bpoinnte seo beidh beirt mhúinteoir nua againn sa scoil i mbliana: múinteoir ranga dos na Naíonáin Shínsearacha agus múinteoir achmhainní. Níl siad ceaptha againn fós de bharr moill ar an bpainéal arís ach ghlanadh an painéal ar an Déardaoin mar sin ní fada anois go mbeidh ár n-agallaimh agus na ceapacháin á dhéanamh againn. Coimeadfaidh mé ar an eolas sibh.
Tá tréan-oibre ar siúl ar ár seomraí ranga nua agus táimíd ag súil go mbeidh siad críochnaithe agus ullamh le h-úsáid i gceann coicíse nó mar sin. Beidh an dá rang Naíonáin Shóisearacha ag bogadh trasna agus fágfaimid slán leis na seomraí liath ansan.
Tá bus scoile eagraithe le tosnú i mbliana. Táimid ag súil go dtosnóidh sé ar an Luan an 19ú Meán Fómhair. Ba mhaith liom buíochas thar ceann na scoile a gabháil le Penny Ní Fhoghlú as ucht an obair ar fad a rinne sí chun bus scoile a eagrú. Is gá dom a lúadh ag an bpoinnte seo áfach nach mbeidh an scoil freagrach as na páistí nuair atá siad ar an mbus ag teacht ar scoil nó ag dul abhaile um thráthnóna.
Cuirim fáilte speisialta roimh na 39 Naíonáin Bheaga a thosaigh sa scoil i mbliana, Isak mac Sheáin i rang na Naíonáin Shínsearacha agus roimh Ailís Ní Mhurchú a thosaigh le Rang a hAon i mbliana. Tá sé deacar le creidiúnt gur oscailíomar 4 bliana ó shin le 20 agus go bhfuil 132 ag freastal ar an scoil anois! Táim chomh brodúil as na páistí sa scoil agus cé chomh mór is atáimíd ag fás. Is dócha, áfach, go gcruthóidh se sin a bhfadhbanna féin ar maidin agus um thráthnóna: iarraim oraibh a bheith consiasach faoi na comharsain agus sibh ag páirceáil. Mholfainn chomh maith grúpaí tiomána a thosnú le daoine timpeall oraibh, siúl más féidir nó d’fhéadfadh na páistí níos sinne rothaíocht ar scoil. Mar a thosaíomar le Rang 2 na bliana seo chaite beidh cead ag Rang 2 & Rang 3 siúl ón scoil leo féin mar sin ba cheart go laighdeofaí an trácht um thráthnóna agus ar maidin ní ghá siúl isteach leis na páistí ach amháin na Naíonáin. Siúlann na páistí isteach agus amach leo féin go minic i rith an lae mar sin is cinnte go mbeidh siad ábalta ar maidin chomh maith. Bheadh sé an-mhaith neamh-spleáchas breise a thabhairt dóibh agus bheadh sibh níos taipiúla sibh féin ar maidin chomh maith. Ní thabharfar cead d’aon pháiste teacht ar shuíomh na scoile nóiméad roimh 08:30 ar maidin. 08:30 is ea an t-am is lúithe a thabharfar cead do pháiste bheith ar scoil.
Beidh gach píosa nuacht scoile ag dul ar an suíomh sin ar dtús mar sin ba cheart daoibh dul ar an liosta teangbháile chun teachtaireachtaí a fháil. Téir go dtí www.gaelscoilchionntsaile.ie , cliceál ar nuacht / blog agus cur do sheoladh ríomhphoist ann chun a bheith ar an liosta. Teastaíonn uaim go mbeidh gach uile tuismitheoir sa scoil ar an liosta sin agus b’fhéidir go mbeimíd in ann deireadh a cur leis na litreacha ag dul abhaile an t-am ar fad.
Bhí muintir Young Ireland i dteangbhail liom i rith an tsamhraidh. Mhínigh siad dom nach rabhadar sásta leis na léinte rugbaí a fuaireadar agus mar sin nach raibh cinn ar fáil sa siopa fós. Muna bhfuil léine rugbaí scoile ag do pháiste ní ghá a bheith buartha faoi. Caith an éide spoirt gan é go fóilín le Geansaí scoile go dtí go bhfuil siad ar fáil. Beidh sé ar an suíomh idirlíne chomh luath is a faighim focal ó Youngs. Tá sé thar a bheith tábhachtach go bhfuil ainm scríofa le peann buan nó lipéad daingean ar gach ball éadaigh do pháiste. Ba cheart an éide spoirt a chaitheamh ar an Luan agus ar an Déardaoin gach seachtain.
Tá an féilire imeachtaí scoile á socrú againn faoi láithir. Seolfar abhaile é chomh luath is atá sé réidh. Beidh an Iomáint ag tosnú an Déardaoin seo 8ú le R.1, 2 &3 agus ar an Luan ansan gach seachtain eile chomh fada is a leanann an aimsir.
Bhí múinteoir Ciara Ó Halloran i dteangbháil liom faoi na ranganna veidhlín a thosnú go luath le Rang 1 ar adhaidh. Seol isteach an fhoirm gorm amárach ag rá an bhfuil nó nach bhfuil suim agat ann. Ní ghá do aon pháiste é a dhéanamh ach tá sé an-deas an rogha a bheith acu uirlis ceoil a fhoghlaim sa mhodh seo.
Tá na leabhair scoile againn ar scoil. Ta na billí / liostaí á cur le chéile againn agus seolfar abhaile iad chomh luadh is atá siad ullamh. Ní theastaíonn uaim aon tuismitheoir a cur faoi bhrú agus mar sin táim lán-sásta gan an méid iomlán a bhailiú más gá ach méid áirithe anseo agus ansiúd. Ná bíodh aon leisce in aon chorr oraibh é sin a dhéanamh. Is am an-chostasach sa bhliain é seo agus tuigim é sin go hiomlán.
Má tá aon athrú tagtha ar d’uimhreacha teangbháile nó seolta baile téir go Hilda san oifig go luath.
Seo a leanas liosta na laethanta saoire na mbliana seo. Tá ceann nó dhó le cur leis chomh maith ach seo na cinn cinnte.

Dear parents,
Welcome back to you all. I hope that the childrens’ first couple of days back were good and that they are settling back to school.
As you know at this point, there will be two new teachers in the school this year: a class teacher for the Senior Infants and a resource teacher. We haven’t decided on them yet because of a delay on the panel again but the panel will be cleared on Thursday so it won’t be long now before we have our meeting and make decisions. I will keep you informed.
There is a lot of work going into our new classrooms and we are hoping that they will be finished and ready to use in a fortnight or so. The two Junior Infant classes will be moving across then and we will say goodbye to the grey building then.
There is a school bus organised to start this year. We are hoping that it will start on Monday the 19th September. On behalf of the school I would like to express our huge gratitude Penny Ní Fhoghlú for all the work she did in organising the school bus. I have to mention at this point, however, that the school cannot be responsible for the children when they are on the bus coming to school or going home in the afternoon.
I would like to give a special welcome to the 39 Junior Infants that started in school this year, Isak Mac Seáin in Senior Infants and to Ailís Ní Mhurchú who started in 1st Class this year. It’s hard to believe that we opened 4 years ago with 20 and that we have 132 attending the school now!
We are so proud of the children in the school and how quickly we are growing. I suppose, however, that it creates it’s own problems in the morning and in the afternoon: I ask you to be conscious of the neighbours when you are parking. I would also recommend that you start car pooling with people around you, walk if it is possible or the older children could cycle to school. As we started with 2nd class last year 2nd and 3rd Class will be allowed walk from school themselves so that should reduce the traffic in the afternoon and in the morning there is no need to walk in with the children except for the Infants.. The children often walk in and out themselves during the day so they will definitely be able to do this in the morning also. It would be very good to give them more independence and you would be faster yourselves in the morning also. No child will be allowed on the school grounds before 08.30 in the morning. 08.30 is the earliest time your child is allowed to be at school. The teachers are usually at school before this but this is by personal choice.
The school has a website now – huge thanks to Darren de Búrca – Áine’s (2nd class) and Sorcha’s (Rang 1) Dad. Every news item will be going on this site first so you should go on the contacts list to receive alerts. Go to www.gaelscoilchionntsaile.ie , click on news/blog and put your email address there to be on the list. I want every single parent in the school on the list and maybe we will able to put an end to the letters going home all the time.
Young Ireland were in contact with me during the summer. They explained to me that they weren’t happy with the rugby shirts that they got and because of this there aren’t any available in the shop yet. If your child does not have a rugby shirt, don’t worry. Wear the sports uniform without it for a small while with a school jumper until they are available. It will be on the website as soon as I get word from Youngs. It is extremely important that your child’s name is written with a permanent pen or a label on every item of your child’s clothing. The sports clothes are to be worn on Monday and Thursday every week.
We are preparing the calendar of school events at the moment. It will be sent home as soon as it is ready. Hurling will be starting this Thursday the 8th with 1st, 2nd and 3rd class and on Mondays after that for as long as we get the weather.
Múinteoir Ciara Ó Halloran was in contact with me about starting the violin classes soon with 1st class upwards. Send in the blue form tomorrow saying if you are / you’re not interested. It is not compulsory for any child to do it but it is very nice that they have the chance to learn a musical instrument in this way.
We have the school books at school. The bills / lists are being put together and they will be sent home as soon as they are ready. I don’t want to put any parent under pressure so if needs be it can be paid in instalments as opposed to one payment. There is no problem in paying in this way. It is a very expensive time of year and I understand this fully.
If there is any change in your telephone numbers or addresses go to Hilda in the office with the new details.
Following is this years holiday list. There are still one or two to add but these are the definite school closures.
