Míoltóga Ghruaige / Head Lice
A thuistí, Cuireadh ar an eolas mé go bhfuil cás míoltóga ghruaige sa scoil arís. Scrúdaigh gruaig do pháiste anocht agus cuir an leigheas cuí air más gá. Tá sé an-dheacair fáilt réidh le míoltóga ghruaige muna bhféachann gach clann ar gruaig a bpáistí féin.Táim ag impí oraibh seo a dhéanamh chun cosc a chur ar an fhadhb go tapaidh.
Dear parents,
I have been informed of a case of head lice in the older class rooms. Please check your child's hair tonight and treat it if necessary. It is very hard to get rid of head lice if each family does not look at their own children's heads. I am imploring you to do this to stop the problem quickly.

Tuismitheoirí na Naíonáin Shóisearacha/Junior Infants Parents
- Táimid tar éis tús a cur leis an léitheoireacht Gaeilge. Éireoidh na leabhair níos deacra agus ní bheidh do pháiste in ann iad a léamh. Ná bí buartha faoi seo. Nílimid ag súil go mbeidh siad in ann léamh go neamhspleách go dtí an bhliain seo chugainn.
- Ag an bpoinnte seo tá do pháiste in ann siúl isteach ón ngeata leo féin. Déanann siad go minic i rith an lae é mar sin ní ghá daoibh siúl isteach leo a thuilleadh ach amháin má bhíonn oraibh labhairt liomsa nó le Hilda ar cúiseanna éagsúla.
- Ba cheart go mbeadh éide scoile iomlán ceart ar na páistí ar fad gach lá. Bíodh ainm scríofa ar gach ball éadaigh, bosca lóin nó aon rud a bhíonn ag do pháiste ar scoil le bhur dtola. Tá geansaí scoile gan ainm sa rang faoi láthair.
- Smaoineamh maith is ea é chun fobhríste / fobhrístín breise agus péire stocaí glana a cur isteach i mála scoile do pháiste ar eagla na heagla. Tárlaíonn timpistí! Tá éadaí breise againn ar scoil chomh maith agus má bhíonn ar do pháiste iad a thógaint nigh agus seol thar nais iad chomh tapaidh agus is féidir le bhur dtola
- Teastaíonn uaim go síneoidh sibh obair bhaile bhur bpáistí gach oíche fiú muna bhfuil áit faoi leith ann don síniú. Déanfaidh aon áit ar an leathnach an gnó.
- We have started the Irish reading. The books will get harder and your child will not be able read them. Don't be worried about this. We don't expect them to be able to read on their own until next year.
- At this point your children are able to walk in from the gate on their own. They do often this during the day so you need not walk in with them any more except when you have to talk to me or Hilda for various reasons.
- The children should all have the full school uniform on every day. There should be a name on every item of clothing, lunch box or anything that your child has at school, please. There is a jumper with no name in the class for the last few weeks.
- It is a good idea to put spare underwear and a pair of clean socks into your child's school bag just in case. Accidents happen! We have spare clothes at school also and if your child has to take them please wash and return them as fast as you can.
- I want you to sign your children's home work every night even if there is not space there for a signature. Any place on the page will do.
Note for Parents of First Communion Children
The next 'Do it in Memory Mass' is on Saturday, 24th November, 2012 at 6.30pm The Feast of Christ the King.
Things to know:
(1) The children will need to bring some falling leaves to this mass (just one or two is fine). Parents Group leaders will be at the back of the church with baskets to collect the leaves from the children as they come into Mass.
(2) Try to be at the church 5/10 minutes early so your child's leaves can go in the basket, which will then be brought to the altar and placed near the Paschal Candle.
(3) After the 2nd Reading Fr Robert will again call all the First Holy Communion Children up to the altar for the Gospel Reading. The children will then sit down on the floor in front of the altar and Fr Robert will chat to the children about the Gospel (what the story was about etc). Only the children will go up to the altar, parents can remain in their seats. The First Communion School Parents Representatives will stand behind the children, just to keep an eye on things!!
(4) Just a little reminder to your children to say "Amen" and bless themselves after they receive their special blessing from Fr Robert and Canon John K when they go up to them at Communion time.
(5) Before this 'Do this in Memory Mass' if parents could help their children to:
(a) complete page 43 in their Thumb Book
(b) to read pages 14 – 17.
Don't forget to bring the Thumb book to Mass.

'Fun' Raising at Max's
This also helps us to practically eliminate all overheads and we are just left with basic food costs and even those tend to be minimal as some local suppliers kindly donate some produce free of charge or at cost.
Possibly new taste & flavours for some but hopefully it will appeal to everyone. This event is open to all so please tell friends neighbors etc as this helps to get funding from an outside source.
Sean veidhlín le díol / Old violins for sale
Má tá seanveidhlín le díol ag éinne agus má theastaíonn uaibh é a fhógraíocht sa scoil, seol an tóis agus phraghas an veidhlín isteach chuig Hilda san oifig, le bhur dtola.
Cork County Council - Metropolitan Towns Cycling Strategies & Active Travel Town Walking and Cycling Strategies Bandon - Fermoy - Kinsale - Youghal
The Council are doing a fact finding exercise and it would give the Gael Scoil parents an opportunity to voice our concerns about the lack of a safe footpath all the way to the school. Could we encourage everyone to take a moment to fill in the survey so we can get an impact and to safeguard our children. Thanks. The following message describes two strategy studies which have been commissioned by Cork County Council. You have been sent this message to both inform you of the strategies intentions and to seek your inputs. Your inputs are important as they will be used to develop and inform each strategy as it develops. Please do not respond to this email, instead please use the survey links listed in the email below.Active Travel Town Walking and Cycling StrategiesBandon – Fermoy – Kinsale - YoughalThe County Development Plan outlines a strategy to address sustainable travel within the County. Under the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport's Active Travel Town programme the County Council has now commissioned walking and cycling strategies to be developed for the towns of Bandon, Fermoy, Kinsale and Youghal. The aim of these strategies will be to significantly improve accessibility and permeability for cyclists and pedestrians within the Active Travel Towns. It will also identify and develop links between the Active Travel Towns, Cork Metropolitan Area and Cork City and potential links to future Greenway routes.Cork County Council has appointed WS Atkins and Kieran Boyle Consulting to prepare the strategies for the towns. The strategies will be used to apply for funding from the Department for the initiatives and project schemes identified in the strategy implementation plans. The strategies must be completed by December 2012 to comply with the deadline for submissions to the Department. The strategy is currently in its assessment stage and as part of this assessment a web based survey has been posted on the Council website which will remain live for a period of 2 weeks. The purpose of this survey is to invite detailed submissions from members of the public which will be used for the development of the strategy initiatives and projects. The surveys can be viewed and completed on the following links:In order facilitate a high response rate the Council is contacting community and voluntary groups directly in order to publicise the surveys. Notifications are also being placed in the local press. The Draft Strategies will be presented to the elected members during the week beginning Monday November 26th.Metropolitan Towns Cycling StrategiesThe County Development Plan also outlines a strategy to address sustainable travel which identified the need for a macro level plan for cycling in Cork. In this regard the County Council has commissioned a cycling strategy for the Cork Metropolitan Area with the objective of providing a clear plan for the future development of cycling networks throughout Metropolitan Cork. The aim will be to significantly improve accessibility and permeability for cyclists within the Metropolitan Towns and between Metropolitan Cork and Cork City. It will also identify and develop links with the Active Travel Towns and the existing and planned Greenways.Cork County Council has appointed WS Atkins and Kieran Boyle Consulting to prepare the strategy for the Metropolitan Area. The strategy will be used to apply for funding from the National Transport Authority for the initiatives and project schemes identified in the strategy implementation plans.
