Please make note of the following dates regarding the indoor hurling and camogie practice and blitz. 

30th January 2013- PRACTICE- ALL of THIRD class

1st February 2013- BLITZ- THIRD class GIRLS- Please collect your child afterwards in Riverstick hall at around 3.30.

4th February 2013- BLITZ- THIRD class BOYS- Please collect your child afterwards in Riverstick hall at around 4.00.

6th February 2013- PRACTICE- FOURTH class BOYS.

18th February 2013- BLITZ- FOURTH class BOYS  Please collect your child afterwards in Riverstick hall at around 4.00.

13th February 2013- PRACTICE- FOURTH class GIRLS 

22nd February 2013- BLITZ- FOURTH class GIRLS- Please collect your child afterwards in Riverstick hall at around 3.30.

Practice will take place indoors during school hours. 

Your child is to wear their sports clothes on the dates relating to them. They will need a helmet, a hurley and shinguards if they have them. They should also have a packed lunch and a drink of water. Transport is organised TO Riverstick on the dates of the blitzes but the children need to be collected afterwards. The finishing times are only estimations and will vary.

Beidh beannú na scornaigh ar siúl Dé Luan 04:02:2013 ag aifreann 08:30 agus 15.30 i séipéal Naomh Eoin. Beidh an beannú ar fáil sa Friary ag 07.30 agus 10.00 ar maidin.

Blessing of throats is on Monday, February 4th, 2013 at 8.30 a.m.Mass and 3.30 p.m. in the Parish Church. It is in the Friary at 7.30 a.m. Mass and 10 a.m. Mass.

Cleachtadh iománaíocht maidin amárach, an 23ú & an 30ú Eanair 2013. Caitheadh an rang ar fad éadaí spóirt, camán, clogad a caitheamh má tá siad acu. Beidh blitz ag teacht suas go luath dos na cailíní chomh maith leis na mbuachaillí.

Hurling practice tomorrow morning, the 23rd January 2013 and the following Wednesday, the 30th. All the class must wear sports clothes and bring helmets and hurleys if they have them. The girls have a blitz coming up soon as well as the boys.

Beidh comórtas iománaíocht ag buachaillí Rang a 3 ar a 4ú de mhí Feabhra 2013. Beidh cleachtadh acu maidin Dé Chéadaoin an 23ú agus an 30ú. Ba cheart dóibh teacht ar scoil in éadaí spóirt ar na dátaí sin le clogad agus camán má tá siad acu.

Third class boys are participating in a hurling blitz on the 4th of February 2013. They have practice on the 23rd of January 2013 and the 30th. They should come to school in their sports clothes and with their helmet and hurley if they have them on these dates. If your child is not interested in participating they do not have to, there is no pressure, but all 3rd class boys are welcome.

Dear parents,

It has come to light that certain parents are still parking dangerously outside the school. A worrying incident happened yesterday to a child as the bus was reversing as a result of a parents bad parking.

Don't ever park at that stone wall at the entrance to the school. It is too narrow.

We have said again and again to the children to be careful when walking past a car - especially when they are reversing. It would be good if you could have the same talk with them. If it's not you collecting them in the afternoon please give this message to the minders also in case they don't know where they shouldn't park.

There will be sale of school uniforms and tracksuits at Young Ireland for a couple of days, starting on Monday next, 21st January 2013. There will be savings of up to 70% on certain items.

Clothes for Recycling Appeal

Clothes for Recycling appeal: We have put back the collection date to the 21st of January 2013. We would like to have a lot more clothes/handbags/ shoes/ bed linen/ curtains collected before the lorry arrives. A big thank you to the people who've brought in bags already. We hope some more bags may be collected during your Spring clean!  This recycling initiative will help with our Green Schools campaign that we hope to begin in the new year. The recycling company promotes awareness of recycling used clothes, shoes and mobile phones, reduces items going to landfill, endorses the culture of Re-Use and recycling and has a list of Affiliated Charities. The school will also raise needed funds for itself.

Athchúrsáil éadaí: Tá an sprioc dáta curtha siar againn go dtí an 21ú lá de mhí Eanair 2013. Níor bhailíomar go leor málaí fós agus ní theastaíonn uainn an leoraí a ordú go dtí go bhfuil ualach de mhalaí againn. Míle buíochas do na dhaoine a thug isteach málaí. Tá cóta puffa dúghorm ó NEXT imithe agus dha gheansaí scoile imithe ar strae uainn sa rang seo amhain! Féach ar éadaí do pháiste agus seol isteach aon rud nach mbaineann libh. Má dhéanann gach tuismitheoir é seo ní bheidh éinne thíos mar sheolfar abhaile na héadaí cearta leis na paistí cearta. Bí cinnte go bhfuil ainm ar gach ball éadaí atá á caitheamh acu ar scoil le bhur dtola mar ní féidir aon rud a dhéanamh ma chailltear iad muna bhfuil ainm orthu.
 
Could parents of all classes and especially the Infants please ensure that every item of clothing their child has in school has their name clearly written in permanent marker/ink or has a label sewn on. The sticky kind are not 100% reliable as they tend to fall off. In Junior Infants alone 2 school jumpers and a navy Puffa from NEXT have been mislaid. Please check that your child has his/her own jumper and return them if they are incorrect. If everyone does this, all items will be restored to their rightful owners. Please ensure each item your child wears to school has a name on it as if it is mislaid it will come back in if it has a name on it and was taken in error.

Caint faoi Bhulaíocht / Talk on Bullying

Tá caint do thuismitheoirí faoi bhulaíocht agus bulaíocht ar líne ar siúl sa Trident ar an 24ú Eanair 2013 ag 8 a chlog. Tá sé mar pháirt don tSraith ag caomhnú sláinte meabhrach daoine óga. Is é Brian Lennon an léachtóir sínsear ón Institiúid William Glasser a bheidh ag tabhairt an léacht.

There will be a talk on Bullying and Cyber-bullying in the Trident Hotel on the 24th January 2013 at 8pm. This is part of the Minding young people's mental health series and the speaker is Brian Lennon a senior lecturer with the William Glasser Institute and also a retired Guidance Counsellor.

Mar is gnáth bíodh ainm ar gach chuid don éide scoile agus labhair le do leanbh faoi an tabacht a bhaineann le aire a thabhairt dos na héadaí a bhaineann leo ar an mbus, sa chlós, agus istigh ar scoil.
 Tá cúpla léine rugbai samplach agam i mo sheomra atá ag lorg baile deas. Tá tomhais na léinte scríbhte orthu le dúch ach tá fáilte romhaibh iad a thógaint abhaile agus iarracht a dhéanamh na marcanna a bhaint.

Hallo and welcome back,

During the preparations for the Christmas plays before the break a few ties etc. went missing. Could everyone check their child's uniform to make sure that you have no extra items of clothing. If you come across anything that isn't yours, please send it to Hilda.Hilda always has a lost and found box in the office. As per usual, have your child's name on every piece of their uniform and speak with your child about the importance of taking care of their clothes on the bus, in the yard and inside in school.

I have a couple of sample rugby shirts in my room that are looking for a good home. Their sizes are written on them with ink but you are welcome to take them home and try to take off the marks.
