Oll-Toghcháin/General Election 08/02/'20

Toghcháin 08/02/'20

A chairde,
Is cinnte go mbeidh alán polaiteoirí ag teacht chuig ár ndoirse idir seo agus toghchán an Sathairn seo chugainn. Bheadh sé iontach an deis a úsáid chun cás Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile a bhrú ar aghaidh. Iarr orthu an mbeidh siad in ann cabhrú linn ár bhfoirgnimh a fhail níos tapúla dúinn. Go dtí seo tá litreacha scríofa agus freagraí faighte ach i ndáiríre níl déanta acu ach sinne a choimead ciúin. Níl aon achar ama tugtha dúinn ach tar éis a rá go bhfuilimís "sa phróiséas" Táimíd ann anois le 5 bliana agus gan aon pioc níos giorra le foirgnimh buan a fháil.
An dara príoracht ná méid na ranganna a laighdiú: Tá an t-ádh le cúpla ranganna sa scoil go bhfuil níos lú na 20 paiste iontu ach gan amhras tá míbhuntáiste ag baint leis chomh maith -braitheann líon múinteoirí sa scoil ar cé mhéid páiste atá sa scoil agus níl aon dabht ann ach go gcaillfimíd múinteoirí muna dtiteann an gcoimheas páistí: múinteoirí. Faoi laithir tá coimheas 26:1 agus an méid molta ná 20:1. Bheadh laghdú ar an gcoimheas an-cabhrach don nGaelscoil (& do gach scoil eile sa tír)
Bheadh sé go maith roinnt brú a cur ar na polaiteoirí seo! Dá bhféadfadh aon duine acu obair dúinn nó cabhrú linn bheadh sé ar fheabhas.

Dear parents,
With the general election drawing closer we're all sure to have canvassers calling over the weekend. I think it'd be a great opportunity for us all to try to push the agenda of Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile. I will be asking what they can do to help us to progress our new building, as promised, back in 2015. We have written letter and to their credit, we have gotten replies from most of the politicians approached but nothing concrete beyond that we are "in the process" Frankly we have made very little progress in 5 years and it's very frustrating when we have our site and the ambition to drive on. Can these local representatives help us? No harm to remind them about us anyway...
The second area of priority is a reduction in class size. We have 2 classes below 20 in the Gaelscoil which is great for them but unfortunately, it has a negative effect also -the number of classroom teachers depends on enrolment figures. At the moment there is a pupil:teacher ratio of 26:1, making it  the second highest in Europe. The recommended ratio is 20:1. A reduction in our p:t ratio would be very helpful to Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile (and every school in the country).
It's no harm to put some pressure on these public representatives! If any of them could help our situation it would be fantastic!
Príomhoide Sinéad
